Maleny is a lovely town and well worth a visit. It’s a great place to spend the day, browsing the shops and enjoying brunch or lunch. Something to do on the day you check out of your accommodation perhaps.
If you’re up for a day trip, this is probably the way to go. Head out via Montville, Maleny and on to Conondale to Kenilworth. Returning via Mapleton and back to Flaxton. (Do the loop in this direction to avoid the unsealed road.) Pop into Kenilworth Bakery for a renowned footlong donut! Maybe lunch at Kenilworth Hotel. Visit Kenilworth Dairy and pick up yoghurts, cheeses etc substantially cheaper than a deli or supermarket - buy it direct. Grab an ice cream from Kenilworth Dairy (such generous serves!). The kids will love the fantastic park across the road.
Stop off at Mapleton Falls on the way home.
