Walk the Avila Pier and enjoy the smell and sight of the ocean!
If you drive past Avila out to the end of the road, it dead ends and there is another pier with a little fish restaurant -- usually you can see seals perched on some docks, too. Occasionally (depending on the season) there are whales you can see from the pier!
Dog owners: if you head past the first main beach of Avila and over the bridge, the next small beach is the Avila Dog Beach!

This spot is just a few miles from the house. Beda is a wonderful German man who brought amazing German cuisine to SLO! I think the Beda Burger is one of the best burgers in town...this is a great spot for lunch or dinner.

We drive all the way to Paso often just to get these Katsu Sandos (Thursdays) and ramen bowls... SO good. It is located in a market place so there is a wine and beer bar available, as well as a vegan restaurant, bakery and gelato spot!
