A vehicle is ideal. You can get around town on a bike.
There is a great park called Ewing Park that has a public swimming pool. You can purchase day passes there. There is a small walking/bike path.

Moraine State Park
Moraine has a 14 mile walking/bike path and is located approximately 20 minutes from the home. They also have kayak rentals and picnic areas. One of my favorite summer places to visit!
