Look up and you'll see on the top four corners of the 156-step, 206-foot Bell Tower the four gargoyles that overlook the campus. In 1978, geography students designed the layout of Centennial Mall sidewalks by perching atop the Bell Tower and photographing the snow paths made by students walking to class. Also, the trees planted around the center circle are known as the Circle of Champions. Each tree represents a UT MAC Championship. Chimes ring for each hour and a single chime on the half-hour. If you're visiting at 5 pm or 7:15 pm any evening of the week, you'll hear songs being chimed from the tower also.

Old West End neighborhood. Twenty-five city blocks making up one of the largest collections of late Victorian houses left standing in the United States. Frank Lloyd Wright studied in this area when planning his Oak Park Project in Illinois. Besides looking at all the beautiful old mansions, Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church is also located in this neighborhood. Old West End
Old West End neighborhood. Twenty-five city blocks making up one of the largest collections of late Victorian houses left standing in the United States. Frank Lloyd Wright studied in this area when planning his Oak Park Project in Illinois. Besides looking at all the beautiful old mansions, Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church is also located in this neighborhood. First of all, there's the riverwalk. In fact, The Detroit Riverwalk is 3.5 miles long and has recently been named the Best Riverwalk in the country in the 2021 USA Today ...but we've known that for a long time! We love to take our bicycles (bike rentals throughout the city) and ride the entire riverwalk all the way into Belle Isle Park, which is 982-acre island park in Detroit. It was developed in the late 19th century and was designed by Frederick Olmstead...who also designed Central Park NYC. Another great area to visit in the heart of downtown is Greektown for authentic Greek food. There's also a casino and of course, the Greek food!

Explore the area's winemaking, ships & caves. Perry’s Cave includes a limestone cave and a butterfly house. Walk, rent a bike or rent a golf cart to get around the island. (no cars) Be sure to try a fish taco! Go to "Goat, Soup and Whiskey" restaurant for the best ones on the island!

The best day to attend the market is Saturday, when it operates from 6:00 am until 4:00 pm, but it also offers a smaller number of vendors on other select days on Sundays & Tuesdays (check their website for hours and details).
