Tobermory Harbour
A must do for visitors, recommended during your stay, you can travel as a foot passenger or take your car on the ferry to explore the Isle of Mull. There is a lovely walk to the lighthouse of Rubha Nan Gall. Always check CalMac website or social media for status updates on sailings from Kilchoan.
At 528m Ben Hiant is the largest mountain on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, views from the summit over Loch Sunart, Mull and out to the small isles are breathtaking. Most of the gentle ascent is on a fairly distinctive path though slightly steeper near the summit.

Portuairk is a Crofting township with lovely Sandy coves, walk through the wooded area to Port Mackie. Great for swimming or a wee paddle.

Enjoy the walk from just past the community garden, park up and follow the route to either Portuairk, Sanna or Achnaha. In the photo you can see the old school and school house where children from the villages walked over the hill to school, they built it in the middle of the townships to accommodate all the areas.

In 1828 this village was cleared of its tenants by the Laird to establish large scale sheep farms. Dogs and goats were shot and cows driven away, roofs were taken off homes and ploughs were put through potato pits. Villagers were moved to poor land on the beaches and shores Sanna , Portuairk etc and that is why we have small settlements on the shores of Ardnamurchan.
Walking grade moderate , 1.6 miles there and back. Park nearby and follow the path from the steal gate at the basin just before Camus Nan Gall

In 1828 this village was cleared of its tenants by the Laird to establish large scale sheep farms. Dogs and goats were shot and cows driven away, roofs were taken off homes and ploughs were put through potato pits. Villagers were moved to poor land on the beaches and shores Sanna , Portuairk etc and that is why we have small settlements on the shores of Ardnamurchan.

The site was used for ritual and burial practices and would have contained human remains and objects of significance such as pottery or stone tools. Located in the township of Ormsaigmore. Park at the shop and head back to Grianan Croft and follow the signage ,keeping left and up beside the stone wall. Well worth the walk as the views are spectacular.
