Cheese heaven! This is a newish addition to the area of Gerringong. It is situated opposite Cronin’s Hotel. The school building is original and was transferred here once the new primary school was built. It now houses a cafe serving high teas and all the trimmings. Delicious cheeses are made on-site! They range from feta to a version of blue vein cheese. All made from milk products sourced from the many dairy farms and goat farms in the area. Do not miss this! See their website for opening times.

The restaurant has lovely food and overlooks the valley. It is also very dog friendly. We were outside on a good day and many patrons had their dogs by their side.

Kiama boasts many cafes and a lovely coastal walk. The famous blowhole and lighthouse are only surpassed by the harbours’ two rock pools.

There is a lovely Rockpool at the far right end of the beach. It overlooks the whole beach. There is a large IGA supermarket just behind Fern Street.
A chemist , bakery and cafes are located on Fern street. The Hill Bar and Restaurant is also located on Fern Street.

A whale watching platform, boat launching ramp and another rock pool (one near the boat launching ramp) are located at the ocean end of Gerringong.

There is a lovely Rockpool at the far right end of the beach. It overlooks the whole beach. There is a large IGA supermarket just behind Fern Street.

Walking the 7 miles to Shoalhaven Heads leads you directly to Bangalay restaurant. Remember to exit at the surf life saving pavilion.
In addition there is a walking path through the forest which is parallel to the beach. Perfect for birdwatching, or as an alternate route back to Gerroa. You can also bike along this path.

The course, though challenging, has magnificent views over the ocean and surrounding countryside. It should be noted that Walkers Beach at the base of the course is NOT a swimming beach

This is a lovely walk around the rock shelf at low tide. You will need shoes with grip. Lots of lovely rock pools to explore.

The easiest access is from the car park, near the bend in Headland Drive. From here you can scramble over rocks , around the head and out to the point itself. A degree of dexterity is required. Alternatively the back beach offers respite during peak season crowds at the main beach.

There are two rock pools. One at Black beach and the other one is over the crest of the hill. Just near the cabins , on the waterfront past the boat harbour.
The second one is more popular than the first.

The taps in the laundry……
On both the hot and the cold taps you’ll see 2 dials. The outer dial controls water to the machine. Do not change this as it’s permanently on( unless a hose bursts!) The inner dial allows hot and cold water to come through the spout. A bucket is under the sink in case you wish to hand wash items.
