The Black Country Living Museum is an award-winning open air museum that tells the story of one of the very first industrialised landscapes in Britain. It's great for all age groups. The BCLM museum was used for some of the filming for Peaky Blinders.

The tours here are really informative and not expensive. Often you can get a great deal on groupon. The main building has been totally updated in the last few years and now houses art work, a cafe, a history of the tunnels and some interactive displays. Well worth a visit, but remember the tunnels get cold so take a jumper.

Well worth a visit, but remember the tunnels get cold so take a jumper.
Drakelow Tunnels are a former Top Secret underground military complex beneath Kingsford Country Park, just up the road from the annexe. Open days only happen a few times a year so booking on via email/FB is essential.

Wild life
A lovely local wildlife attraction that houses reptile, small mammals and birds. Well priced and only seven miles from the annexe. The park is just up the road from the Halfpenny Green Wine Estate, so really easy to combine the two.

Great place to take a picnic, although there is a little cafe also. The play area has recently been refurbished with great wooden equipment. You can walk/cycle all the way to Highley following the paths. Aveley itself has some great country pubs too.
