The beach to North of Callala Bay Jetty is dog friendly (dogs must be leashed at all times) and makes for an excellent walk at all times of the day. This is not a surf beach and the water is usually calm which makes this perfect for relaxing swims with young children, or if you are after some exercise. As you walk north you will cross Boorawine Creek then Wowly Creek which are great places for the kids to explore and play.

Like Callala Bay, the beach is usually calm and the clear waters are very inviting. Most of the beach allows dogs on it off-leash from 4pm - 8am, 1 Oct - 30 April and 3pm - 10am, 1 May - 30 Sept.

At Callala Bay Jetty there is a well maintained boat ramp which provides convenient access to boating around Jervis Bay. There are also public toilets, a park and playground equipment. If you don't have a boat, fishing from the jetty is popular.
Bayview Plaza shopping mall contains an IGA supermarket, Cellarbrations liquor store, post office, pharmacy, some takeaway food places and restaurants, and other shops. It is an easy 5 minute walk from the Beach Shack.

Greenwell Point is best known for it's oysters and fresh seafood. If you want to treat yourself to some fresh local caught Seafood and delicious oysters from the local oyster farms, this is the best place to go. Greenwell Point also has a highly regarded fish & chip shop.

Although Huskisson is just south of Callala Beach, the drive takes about 25 minutes as you need drive inland to the Princes Hwy to access it. If you are looking for a bit of buzz and activity, Husskison is the place to go. Whilst Callala is quiet sleepy place, Husskison is vibrant. It has a good range of restaurants, pubs and marine sporting activities.
If you want to join a tour to go sea kayaking, whale watching, dolphin watching, snorkelling or scuba diving, be sure to book before you go. Whale watching season is from May to November.

Although Huskisson is just south of Callala Beach, the drive takes about 25 minutes as you need drive inland to the Princes Hwy to access it. If you are looking for a bit of buzz and activity, Husskison is the place to go. Whilst Callala is quiet sleepy place, Husskison is vibrant. It has a good range of restaurants, pubs and marine sporting activities.

It is the entry point to Beecroft Peninsula with it's many walks and small beaches where you may find you have the whole beach to yourself. If you go on a walk, be sure to visit Gosangs Tunnel which is about 15m long and 1m high. If you crawl or waddle through it you will step out onto the tops of the sea cliffs which are a great place to whale watch (May to November).

Currarong is the smallest township in this guidebook and only has a couple of shops and a club. However, there is a lot to do here that makes it a must visit in my opinion. It has a surf beach as well as the quieter Abraham's Bosom Beach and rockpools. It is the entry point to Beecroft Peninsula with it's many walks and small beaches where you may find you have the whole beach to yourself. If you go on a walk, be sure to visit Gosangs Tunnel which is about 15m long and 1m high. If you crawl or waddle through it you will step out onto the tops of the sea cliffs which are a great place to whale watch (May to November).

Dog Friendly Beaches
There are plenty of dog-friendly beaches and areas in and around Jervis Bay. For full information visit the Shoalhaven City Council website (https://www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/For-Residents/Pets-Animals/Off-leash-Prohibited-Areas). The site includes maps of off-leash areas and areas where dogs are prohibited.
The nearby beach at Callala Bay is dog friendly 24/7. However, dogs must be leashed at all times.
At nearby Callala Beach dogs are allowed off-leash at specific times of the day. From 4pm - 8am, 1 Oct - 30 April and 3pm - 10am, 1 May - 30 Sept.
