This is by far the most beautiful garden that I think is a hidden gem. Tūpare is a premier landscaped garden with a unique homestead, originally developed by Sir Russell Matthews and his family from 1932.
Everything about this place is a dream, no matter what time of year you go. The most beautiful cottage (original) is there surrounded by a tennis court. If you're lucky you maybe able to go inside the cottage and learn more. Down the hill is the river where you can go swimming and then enjoy a bbq in the gardens where the facilities are excellent.

Its a lovely little zoo that is free for all. In the centre of this is a playground for the tamariki to play on. It's a safe place, fenced and very popular and recommended by all.

This is part of Pukekura Park. Just at the top of this is the free 'Brooklands Zoo'. Here at the Bowl, you will find that many concerts are played here and its a great place to see as you walk through the park

Dawson Falls is a scenic 30 minute drive from Stratford, and features many of the great short walks on Mount Taranaki. Enjoy the picturesque drive up to Dawson Falls through the stunning Mountain canopy. Primarily Tōtara and Kamahi trees, the forest around this part of Mount Taranaki sparks the imagination of a Goblin Forest. Dripping with moss and lichens, the tree trunks and branches have grown through and around existing trees to create a distinctive twisted forest.
Dawson Falls itself is an 18 metre high waterfall named after Thomas Dawson, the first European to discover the falls in 1885.

One that has definitely improved but still needs a little work. I think it's worth the visit though as it has tigers, lions, monkeys, goats, pigs and more.

This is your #1 for coming here. Although it's a little underated to me, as it really isn't that big but it does capture the beautiful Maunga Taranaki perfectly. What's better is that it is just at the end of our road!!!

There's a map board at the car park entrance and at a few locations around the park. The trails entrances and exits are generally well marked as the trails are one way.

Bring layers, we have all kinds of weather in one day
Because we live up by the Mountain it pays to pack layers, the weather really can be crazy. We live in a high wind zone too so that maybe tell you more. On a still day you can see the coast even as far up as the White Cliffs!

Hiring a car
Where we are situated it takes a good 15-20 min drive to the CBD. To get ubers out here isn't a thing and a taxi would cost a heap. So best with a hire car/ your own vehicle to get to places, or if you require a driver to and from an event, please discuss with us prior and we can arrange something
