Sunsets are well worth it. Great place for interesting photo captures of sunset and the lighthouse. I love to bring a dinner picnic to eat on the beach. Beach is rocky with large drift wood log stacks and boulders to keep erosion down. Be prepared to climb. Not ideal for disabled or elderly. Great hike down the steep slope but wear good shoes. Remember the hike back up will be strenuous. For sunset watchers, bring a headlamp for the return hike! The beach is long and room for a sense of space around you. Park at the North Parking lot at Discovery Park. Stop in first at the Visitor Center, where they can direct you to the walking trails that lead down to the beach and lighthouse. The trip back up the bluff from the lighthouse can be a bit strenuous, so if you're not in decent physical shape, or you've got small kids in tow, there's a shuttle bus that will take you down to the lighthouse from the Visitor Center. A summer season free beach shuttle will operate at Discovery Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following dates: Saturdays and Sundays (May 28 to Sept. 5) Special holidays: Memorial Day, Monday, May 30; Monday, July 4; and Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5 During operation, the shuttle will pick up and drop off riders in the Visitors Center parking lot, at the north parking lot bus stop, and in the beach parking lot. For park visitors wishing to walk to the beach, it is a 1.5 mile walk each way from any of the three parking lots in Discovery Park. Walk on the Loop Trail until you reach one of three trails that lead you to the beach – the South Beach Trail, the Hidden Valley Trail, or the North Beach Trail. No parking permits will be available for beach parking on Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of two stalls reserved for disabled placards. Permits for disabled parking are available at the Visitor Center. - See more at: http://parkways.seattle.gov/2016/05/19/free-beach-shuttle-to-operate-at-discovery-park-this-summer/#sthash.83wYRIgT.dpuf

Scenic and fun water taxi ferry boat ride that departs from the ferry dock in downtown Seattle over Elliot Bay to Alkai Beach, where you can rent a bike, or kayak, or SUP, or skates to follow the Alki Trail to Alki Beach and Alki Lighthouse, 2.6 miles. Take in the views on the water or on the trail of Elliot Bay, Downtown Seattle and across the Puget Sound and Olympic mountain range while heading to Alki beach.

The Seattle Center Monorail is an elevated monorail line in Seattle, Washington, that operates along Fifth Avenue between Seattle Center in Lower Queen Anne and Westlake Center in Downtown. Built for the 1962 Worlds Fair. My favorite way and an easy way when you are relying on public transportation to explore, to get to Seattle Center. A short and calm ride will take you through the center of the EMP Museum at its end point. Take the Link Light Rail at the UW Station heading south to the Westlake Station. Then catch the iconic Monorail to Seattle Center for the Space Needle, EMP Museum, Pacific Science Center, Chihuly Garden.
