When in Kihei we always have a meal at this famous restaurant with a very interesting fusion type menu. This restaurant was featured in Diner Drive-in and Dives and the food is truly delicious!
(check to make sure it's open before you go because they temporarily closed due to the pandemic)
Don't forget to check out the open shopping market next door for great deals on clothing, jewelry, and souvenirs.
Also there's a great shaved ice stand.

Sightseeing
The road to Hans is worth doing at least once. Make sure you start early though because as quaint as the town of Hana is the best part of the trip is taking your time getting there and heading home before it gets dark.
I also encourage you to brings snacks, water, your suits, a guide book or listen to an audio book or station on the way to get the most out of this amazing road trip.

This is an excellent snorkel spot... plenty of beautiful fish and turtles to watch. The parking is on the street and you need to walk through a little tropical path to get to beach. The area is not Sandy and lots of Boulders and rocks to walk over, there are several trees for shade.
If you'd rather not climb over the boulders and rocks there is a cement path to help you get into the water, I found it easier to sit and scoot down the edge of it into the water with my snorkel gear on to prevent falling.
It may seem like a lot of trouble to go through just to get there but you won't be disappointed because the snorkeling is truly spectacular and it's totally worth doing at least once... though you may want to return again.
When you're done and on your way home there is view spot that usually has a food truck that offers coconut shaved ice and other cool desserts that I recommend stopping for... a perfect way to end a beautiful day at the beach!

This is a beautiful aquarium that teaches about the Hawaiian sea life and rescues baby turtles and releases them when they are able to care for themselves.

The little town of Paia has got a great old hawaiian vibe. It's on the North side of Maui and has very nice little shops and restaurants.
And it's close to some beautiful beaches!

Maalaea is in central Maui and is best know for it's harbor, a very popular departure point for many ocean activities, and where the Maui Ocean center is located.

There is also a Vons in Lahaina that we sometimes shop at on our way home. Times Market is probably the closest to our condo where they carry many things other then food.

Kamaole Beach Park I and Beach Park II are very nice beaches with bathrooms and grassy areas. The waters are relatively calm and have many turtles to watch.
The afternoons in Kihei can get quite windy so I would go in the first half of the day.

This is one of my favorite beaches. Though it can get busy with tourists and finding parking can be a challenge it's a great beach for families with little ones.

Napili Bay

Makena Beach is beautiful. There are two parts of it, Big Beach and little beach. There are Life guards and Public restrooms with showers and picnic areas.
NOTE: Be careful because there can be rough and rouge waves.

This beach is considered one of the most beautiful sheltered beach in Maui.
It's on the west side of Maui and though it's surrounded by private condominiums the bay is open to the public and has public restrooms and showers. There is no lifeguard but it's great for kids and many Hawaiian Sea Turtles.
