Temple complex with Hindu and Buddhist Temples "Natha Devale is an walled enclosure having small Buddhist and Hindu Temples. The Devala is located in front and little off the center, of the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic. The Devala can be entered from the road leading to Church of St Paul or through a gate, opposite Maha Vishnu Temple. It can also be accessed from the side of the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic. The temples and shrines in the enclosure are built in local style of architecture with wooden pillars and tiled roofs. The structures are not artistically appealing, however, there are paintings on the walls of the temple, which are quite attractive. Not much restoration of the structures seems to have been done and hence not a very popular destination among the tourists. The Devala is frequented mostly by the pilgrim, who usually visit the Devala prior visiting the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic, as a ritual."

Archaeological treasure The place of origin of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, this temple atop a mountain is surrounded with an abundance of ruins and Archaeological treasures. The ruins of old monastery, the shrine rooms, the large dining halls and the old hospital are worthy attractions. The climb up, to the temple along a never ending flight of steps, in the shades of blooming Temple trees is a truly amazing experience, and finally the view from the top of the mountainous rock is breathtaking. Really worth visiting.

Ancient city ruins of the Chola dynasty "It is not a large area and the ruins aren’t as intact as in Angkor Wat, if a comparison needs to be made. But it is a good introduction to the history of Sri Lanka. The second most ancient of Sri Lanka's kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first established by the Chola dynasty after their successful invasion of the country's then capital, Anuradhapura, in the 10th century. The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage Site. Polonnaruwa is the second largest city in North Central Province, but it is known as one of the cleanest and more beautiful cities in the country. Polonnaruwa was ruled by the Kings Vijayabahu I, Parakramabahu the Great and Nissanka Malla – all 3 of these rulers devoted themselves to fostering agriculture, religion and social development and the kingdom prospered under their reign during this era."

Raising from the central plains and jungle forests this iconic rocky outcrop in Sigiriya is perhaps Sri Lanka’s most dramatic and spectacular near vertical walled mountain fortress, soaring to a flat-topped summit that contains the ruins of an ancient 5th century civilisation and there are stunning and spellbinding vistas across mist-wrapped forests in the early morning mist to the late afternoon smoke from the evening cooking fires Sigiriya refuses to reveal its secrets to anyone easily, and you’ll have to climb a series of near vertical staircases attached to sheer walls to reach the top. You will need a reasonable level of fitness . On the way you’ll pass a series of quite remarkable rock drawings and a pair of colossal lion’s paws carved into the bedrock. The surrounding landscape, lillypad covered moats, water gardens and quiet shrines, where you can sit relax and contemplate in the quietness, peace and tranquility that is. The excellent site museum, only adds to the rock star appeal. A late afternoon hike to the top to see the stunningly beautiful sunset is worth the effort if you have the time.

Laid-back Ella draws travelers to Sri Lanka's highlands with its mountain forests, tea plantations, and relatively cool climate. The wildlife-rich region is also home to caves, cascades, and secluded temples—plus the Ella Gap, which offers lofty views between a cleft in two hills. Here is some of the iconic place in Ella Nine Arch Bridge Amazing architecture: Trek makes it even more memorable "It is in my bucket list of visiting this bridge and I initially thought I would be able to view it when I was on the train from Nuruwa Eliya to Ella. But instead most visitors come here by foot. The trek to the bridge is steep downhill. No proper steps so proper shoes would be advisable although we saw a lot of people walked in their slippers. Then the rough bit is to walk back the steep slopes. We took heaps of pictures. Been told this bridge is around 100 years old (still in use) and it is Sri Lankan pride because it was built by a local Sri Lankan engineer." Ella Rock Beautiful hike "This is a lovely hike for any nature lover and adventurer. The path starts by walking along the railroad tracks. If you choose to take the shortcut (a bit more challenging), that cuts through the village and tea plantations, there is graffiti on the tracks signaling where to turn. Otherwise, just follow the tracks until the path up. If you can't find the paths, you can always ask the locals. It's best to go early in the morning as it usually starts to rain around 12-13:00 (in December). It's a 2 hour hike up to the top, once there, you'll want to stay awhile and enjoy the view. Ravana Ella Falls One of the famous waterfalls in the island. It is like 10-15 mins drive from Ella town This 82ft height waterfall is Sri Lanka's one of the famous & beautiful waterfalls. It is easily accessible by road and a perfect stop for photos. Rocks are slippery,so be extra careful if you think of climbing on rocks at the waterfall.. There is a safe viewing deck and no entrance chargers here.
