Methow Trails is North America's largest cross country ski areas with over 220 km (136 miles) of perfectly groomed skate and classic ski trails. Kids 17 and under ski free everyday in the Methow Valley. Many of the trails also welcome fat bikers, snowshoers and dogs.

Snowmobile rentals in winter. The forest service roads are groomed. Amazing routes and destinations that I have done several times and will do again.

Shafer Historical Museum
Lots of history about the Methow Valley from the 1880-1940's. Lots of old buildings, antiques and tools to see. Good for kids. At last check, entry by $2 donation. Castle Ave, one street north of downtown Winthrop.
