Nambour. A low key fun experience particularly with a friend or two. The pottery is a great destress, so organic and relaxing. The staff are friendly, very encouraging and helpful. You don't need any prior experience. Highly recommended.

Maleny. Kat holds a pottery class each Friday night which is a bunch of giggles and you may even learn something. You are provided a readymade pot which you embellish however you want. A great intro to clay techniques. BYO wine and nibbles.

Mooloolaba. Spray of the Coral Coast is a 100year old timber sailing boat cruising the Mooloolah River captained by Simon, an indigenous local. The tour is a relaxing mix of sunset romance, history, live music, bubbly and picnic on the deck.

This is a beautiful place off the main track between Montville and Mapleton. Enjoy a picnic, walk to the bottom of the falls or cool down in the cold waterhole at the top of the falls. Highly recommended but busy on summer weekends. The cafe beside the park has live music on Sunday afternoons.

The riding centre is just down the road from Havn and there's a horse for everyone :-) The trail ride through some our local forest is a bit of an adventure.

Palmwoods is a lovely little railway village north of Havn with plenty of browsing options and some great places to eat. It is also part of an adventurous route up/down the Blackall Range to the charming village of Montville.

This is the home of coffee in a donut and the 1kg donut! They have regular size too and more flavours than you can imagine. Worth a visit for the fun factor (and the country drive). Earn yourself a place on the wall of fame in the bakery's 1kg donut challenge, or enjoy trying ;-) Note, you will need to place an order online prior if you want this version.

If pies are your thing, this is a must do, though all their goodies are yum. Try the cauliflower pie - delicious ( and I'm not even a pie person). 5 mins drive from Havn.

Maleny, just up the hill from Havn. This is the perfect place to enjoy a craft beer or sample paddle and fab food in the treetops. The deck is a lovely spot for a lazy lunch. Must must book ahead if you want lunch!

Moffatt Beach. I friggin love this place! Is a great weekend wind down spot at Moffs (local speak) with the beer, live music by the tanks and surf as background noise. What could be better? If you like the beer you can also visit their bigger production house in Caloundra and maybe catch a comedy show. O and the fab artwork was done by one of our buddies so the beer has to be good.

My secret op shops
I'm an op shop junkie as you will know if you visit Havn. These places are some of my faves, but no promises. The treasures you will find depend on the day.
Mooloolah. This is an old fashioned op shop within walking distance of Havn. I love it because you can still get a bargain and the staff are super friendly. Even open Saturday mornings!
