Only a five minute drive from your accommodation, Godshill is the quintessential English Village, and boasts some of the oldest architecture on the Isle of Wight. With its delightful medieval church, charming thatched-roofed cottages and a winding main-street lined with traditional tearooms, Godshill is as picturesque as it is popular.
The village offers traditional tearooms & contains an interesting range of shops offering local crafts and produce, such as ciders, pickles, mustards and biscuits.

A wooded coastal ravine, it contains waterfalls, trees and lush vegetation, with footpaths and walkways allowing paid access for visitors, and a heritage centre explaining its history.
The beach end leads to Shanklin seafront and the Fisherman's Cottage pub/restaurant.
A great local attraction. Run by volunteers, the sanctuary has around 100 donkeys and other wildlife.
There is a gift shop and café, a bric a brac shop, and a number of opportunities for people to donate through our donation boxes. People adopt donkeys and in so doing become ‘members’ of the sanctuary, in that they get regular information about the progress and activities of the donkeys and activities on site.
You can drive, walk or cycle from your accommodation.

The hovercraft was (of course) conceived on the Isle of Wight by Sir Christopher Cockerell, back in the 1950/60s. the Ryde/Southsea service is one of the few commercial passenger Hovercraft services in the world.

Known as the Isle of Wight Riviera, this Victorian hidden gem is a must. Drive down to the seafront. There are car parks at either end. There are great walks in both directions and the town boast some excellent eateries. If you love seafood, The Smoking Lobster is an absolute must. Also the Spyglass Inn is a great venue for an impromptu meal or drink.
Ventnor also offers a number of great eateries and The Royal Hotel, one of only two 4* hotels on the island.

It has proved to be a popular venue for return diners and newbies alike. At the time of writing, Hewitt's had been voted #2 restaurant on the Isle of Wight, specifically noted for its unpretentious food.

The Isle of Wight Festival happens in early June each year. Located on the outskirts of Newport, the festival attracts around 75 thousand people annually. You can travel by bus or taxi from your B&B accommodation.

With their landmark Mermaid Gin and Mermaid Pink Gin, you can now do a 'tour' of the distillery. The gin isn't cheap, but the quality is, without doubt, very high.

Its one of my favorites and is always worth a visit.

BEST WATERSPORTS
If you're into water sports, then Wight Water is the place for you. It's half way between Shanklin & Sandown, along the revetment. It can also be reached by parking off the main Shanklin/Sandown road.
There is also a nice little cafe there too. Check out their website: www.wightwaters.com

If you're into water sports, then Wight Water is the place for you. It's half way between Shanklin & Sandown, along the revetment. It can also be reached by parking off the main Shanklin/Sandown road.
