By far our favorite steak house and a great idea if you're looking to celebrate a special occasion! The ambiance and prices are a bit on the high-end (plan to spend $75-$150 average). Most people dress business casual.

Local favorite hipster/dive pizza joint and is a place our family likes to eat when they come to town. In fact, it's such a local favorite that you'll probably see people with a Satchel's bumper sticker around town. They have converted a van outside into a table where you can eat. Their salads are also a family favorite. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as frequent live music. At the time of this writing they are CASH ONLY but have an ATM on site.

In fact, it's such a local favorite that you'll probably see people with a Satchel's bumper sticker around town. They have converted a van outside into a table where you can eat. Their salads are also a family favorite. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as frequent live music. At the time of this writing they are CASH ONLY but have an ATM on site.

Medical & urgent/emergency care
The University of Florida is the major public healthcare provider and regional safety net for Gainesville and the surrounding area. There is a private hospital system called North Florida Regional Medical Center. If we get sick, or visiting family members were to get sick, we would take them to the University of Florida.
This is one of the University of Florida "free-standing" (I.e., not physically attached to the main campus hospital) emergency rooms. We work at the hospital and recommend going to a free-standing ED first, as the wait times are typically far less than the main campus. If you need escalated care (e.g., surgery, heart attack, stroke, etc), then you would be transferred to the main campus ED or hospital via ambulance. They are open 24/7 365.

They a concrete walking trail, area for kids to play, bar, food trucks, etc. Be sure to search for this online and look for specific details and upcoming events. There's even a "creativity and innovation" museum with pretty fun stuff inside, especially for kids.
