Act Like a Local

Great, you found us! Not many people actually know where Lincoln is, they may have heard of it but many can’t quite place it. We actually like this - keeps us a little hidden gem for those that do find us. Secondly.. don't worry about it, you’re not the first person who thought Lincolnshire was completely flat. We like to keep Steep Hill as a ‘little’ surprise. Lincolnshire folk are often referred to as ‘Yellowbellies’ the origin of this has many different theories most common of which refers to men from the Lincolnshire regiment wearing yellow waistcoats.

Act Like a Local - Part 2

When you’re strolling around Lincoln you may see brightly coloured flags of green, yellow, blue and red flying around. That is county flag which was introduced in 2005 after a competition. We like it a lot. The Lincoln Imp is a stone carving within the Cathedral, the Imp was turned into a city symbol by James Usher a local artist. Legend tells of it being sent by the devil to wreak havoc in the Cathedral only to be turned into stone by an angel. Well we think he's pretty! We are very proud of our Lincolnshire Sausages, they are the best - no argument. We even have a Sausage Festival!

Act Like a Local - Part 3

‘Now then’ is a common way of greeting each other and don’t be shocked if someone calls you ‘duck’ - they are being nice. Lincoln City F.C is our local football team with a huge following of Lincolnshire people (especially now we are doing well!)Based at Sincil Bank Ground in the south area of the City. Nickname - The Imps, obviously!
