This is were Scotland's history began and it is great place to explore with kids too as they have a fun geo-Caching quiz which is great for all ages. There are always indoor exhibitions, too.

There's a well stocked little shop with all essentials, the Anchor Pub which serves food and The Ship which is cosy and often has live sessions.
