The station was built in 1807-9 to supply water to the highest point of the Kennet & Avon Canal which links London and Bristol. It is a rare survivor of the technology which enabled British engineers to drain mines and supply towns and cities with water throughout the world, and has recently undergone National Lottery Heritage Fund supported conservation and visitor facility improvement work'

The windmill can be visited at any time and is a great place for a picnic. On Sunday afternoons in the summer the mill is open for guided tours which take you right up through the mill to the top. A rare opportunity to see a mill that still functions. Wilton Windmill is the only working windmill in Wessex and still produces wholemeal, stone-ground flour which can be purchased when the mill is open. Check their website for guided tour times and follow them on social media for milling dates.

Garden plants and much more. Also worth a visit to see the stonework that adorns the walls put there over many years by the stonemason who used to have a yard next door.
