Food scene
This is the setting for many "beach books" and also a national historic site based on the Revolutionary War battle fought there. Also considered the Ellis Island for African Americans as @ 40% of Black Americans today had their ancestors come through this port. Lastly, is home to the Edgar Allen Poe Library who pays homage to the famous writer who was believed stationed here in the military- under an assumed name! Grab a burger at Poe's Tavern and enjoy the fire place in winter and all the Poe references throughout this local hang out!

Best Farmers Market!
Considered one of best Farmers Markets in the US! Start your day on corner of King and Calhoun for coffee and crepes, sit and enjoy while you "people watch" then proceed clockwise to shop for homegrown veggies, local honey, and arts/crafts. This goes from April-December and from 8:00 am-2:00 pm.
