Public transport is the best way to get around
I recommend downloading the location based app called Bus and Tram by transport for Edinburgh. The buses require exact change or you can use contactless payment. The trams require a ticket purchase before you get on. If you have bio ticket and board the tram you get charged double. Travel cards can be purchased at outlets in the city for advance travel boy are only worth it if staying for a week. The main outlet is on Waverley Bridge.

Parking is extremely difficult and expensive in the city. It is only worth hiring a car for trips out of the city.
