Neighbourhoods
Water, water everywhere. A laid-back, family-friendly town with lots of beach and river activities. Ballina has 32km of golden sands, sheltered coves, surfing spots and vast, open beaches. From the villa, you can walk to North Wall and watch the surfers, dolphins and whales (in season). In the other direction, walk as far as the Shaws Bay Hotel, some eateries and Shaws Bay beach where you can picnic under a tree on the grass. You can hire paddleboards or laze away at the river mouth beach which is perfectly calm for swimming and children.
Make the most of the walking, cycling and skate paths around Ballina. These well-maintained routes start near the villa and stretch from Ballina to Lennox, they are a 'Must-do'! Richmond Oysters is a local secret. Coming from the villa, go over the bridge, and double back at the roundabout. First turnoff to the left is Serpentine. Follow it round. There is an onsite restaurant, bakery and coffee station. On Sundays they hold a huge bbq which is really popular. We like to grab our picnic blanket, grab some takeaway food and sit on the grassy area in the middle of the farm as we enjoy our local produce.

Digging for pippies at low tide is our favourite thing to do here! The Serpentine Beach is just before Missingham Bridge and a fifteen minute walk from the villa. To find the pippies wait for the water to receed, look for the bubbles in the sand and get digging!

From here you can access beautiful coastal tracks that will take you either into Lennox or around the Headland to Sharpes Beach. The views are incredible and we think this is the best way to see the coast around beautiful Lennox.
The boat channels or 'Lennox Reef' can be found at the southern end of Seven Mile beach and is accessible via Rutherford Street in Lennox Head. This is a sheltered corner of beach which is beautiful for swimming, snorkelling, surfing and fishing. It a firm favourite with families in the area.

Seven Mile Beach
The boat channels or 'Lennox Reef' can be found at the southern end of Seven Mile beach and is accessible via Rutherford Street in Lennox Head. This is a sheltered corner of beach which is beautiful for swimming, snorkelling, surfing and fishing. It a firm favourite with families in the area.
Make sure you check out the information sign about how the boat channels were built - it is fascinating.
Visiting Minyon Falls is a beautiful day out. You will need a car to get there as it is about 50km or an hours drive from the villa. There is no entry fee to the park and you can either check out the waterfall from the viewing platform and walk around the trails or climb down to the waterfall to go for a dip. If you decide to head down to the waterfall you will be rewarded with an awesome rope swing which you can use to launch yourself into the pools below.

미니온 폭포 전망대
Minyon Platform TrackVisiting Minyon Falls is a beautiful day out. You will need a car to get there as it is about 50km or an hours drive from the villa. There is no entry fee to the park and you can either check out the waterfall from the viewing platform and walk around the trails or climb down to the waterfall to go for a dip. If you decide to head down to the waterfall you will be rewarded with an awesome rope swing which you can use to launch yourself into the pools below.
We love these markets as they tend to be slightly quieter than the famous Byron markets but with all the same stall holders and wares. There is plenty of parking and lots to see and do. There are many beautiful clothing and jewellery stalls as well as some fabulous local food. We can highly recommend the chocolate doughnuts and the gyoza!

Park LaneWe love these markets as they tend to be slightly quieter than the famous Byron markets but with all the same stall holders and wares. There is plenty of parking and lots to see and do. There are many beautiful clothing and jewellery stalls as well as some fabulous local food. We can highly recommend the chocolate doughnuts and the gyoza!

The ferry stop is about a fifteen minute drive from the villa and is located in West Ballina. From here you can wander along south wall, visit the 4WD beach track or spend a day at the Richmond river. A beautiful way to reconnect with the nature.

There are an abundance of walking and cycling trails that lead from Ballina all the way to Byron Bay. Please feel free to bring along your bicycles, scooters and skateboards to make the most of these pristine tracks. You can hire bikes in Ballina if you prefer.

Byron Bay Parking
Be aware that the vast majority of parking in Byron Bay is paid. Please remember to pay at the machines as the fines are costly. The Butler St reserve used to be free parking but is currently closed so you can now find all-day, free parking on Wordsworth St, Shirley St, Milton St and Dryden St. Please double check this on the Byron Shire website as it may change.
