I'm not sure if it's the 125-year-old Victorian home, the locally sourced food or the mountain views that makes Hearthstone one of my favorite restaurants in Breck. Definitely a "treat yo self" kind of place with entrees ranging from $30-$50 but worth every penny. Recommend you make reservations.

Hikes
This moderately demanding hike leads through a pine and aspen forest, along a mountain stream, to a beautiful waterfall spilling over granite slabs. Breaking out above treeline at mile 3, hikers will arrive at Lower Mohawk Lake, and a bit further up the trail, can take in spectacular views of the neighboring mountain ranges at Upper Mohawk Lake.

The Iowa Hill Trail is a pleasant stroll through an 1800's placer mine site with many interpretive signs along the way. A number of short side trails take you to interesting preserved mining machinery and the old boarding house.
This is a nice shorter route for families or anyone visiting the area to see what mining looked like a hundred years ago.

Oh my goodness, this place is just the cutest. It's the oldest year-round theatre company on Colorado's Western Slope. It's small and quaint, but the seats are comfortable and great views from most seats. The performances are spot on.

Don't be put off by its laid-back, ultra-local vibe, the Beavers and the Steep Gullies on the left side of the mountain is some of the steepest terrain in the state. Get some liquid courage from their candied bacon Bloody Mary's.
