Kennedy School is just .7 miles from my home. It is an old elementary school building that has been converted into a must go to destination for food and a unique experience. Read below a description I grabbed from their website.

McMenamins renovated the once-abandoned scholastic gem and turned it into Portland's most unique hotel. Here you'll find a restaurant, multiple small bars, a movie theater, soaking pool, gift shop and a brewery (just wait until the principal hears about this!). Extensive original artwork and historical photographs cover the walls, ceilings, doorways and hallways.

If you love sushi you have to visit here. I have lived in Portland since 1990 and I have not found a place that comes close to how good the sushi is here. It is located 6.7 miles from my home and is well worth the drive. They frequently have lines but you tend not to wait more than a 1/2 hour. Trust me, they are easily worth the wait.

Amazing Lebanese food. They will bring you a fresh pita the size of an XL pizza and Zaatar dipping oil as an appetizer. Best fresh and smooth hummus I've ever had. A great way to see the Willamette River and the city at night. The color of the bridge changes at night based on the height, temerature, and speed of the river. There is even a paved pathway from this bridge to the Steel bridge that circles the river on its east and west banks. In the Spring (March-April)., the cherry trees along the west side of the river are in full bloom and provides a great backdrop for picture taking.

Amazingly scenic golf course. But my favorite thing to do when visiting is a "Soak and Wrap. It is a great place to go to relax after a long day on the mountain or hiking in the Columbia River Gorge. About an hour drive outside of Portland. Sadly, it is by drop in only, no reservations are allowed. There is also a large warm water mineral soaking pool, and a cold water plunge pool steps away. Very invigorating!
