Make sure you pack some fruit and veg in a container before you go, so you can feed the friendly possums that are living in the sink hole. They are cute, and if your lucky, they will hang out with you so you can hand feed them and get a selfie!

Take a 5 min drive up to the Gorgeous Blue Lake and explore the natural wonders of the Lakes area. You can take the walk right around the lake which will be about 4.2km. Its an easy stroll if you wander round anti clockwise, but if you want a challenge, take the other way round and up the long hill. Lots of walker and runners take this as a daily exercise. You can also park your car at any parking points around the blue lake, and get out take in the view from the platforms. Dont forget to pop into the kiosk for a coffee and a sit down, make sure you say hi to Trish and Gary. Gary also runs the tours of the pumping station, so you can see how the water is moved into the town for our supply. Lots to explore around this area, even down to Leg Of Mutton Lake which is a dry lake with a beautiful walking track, little bit of a hill though.

26 Chute StBe wow'd by this amazing cave right in the heart of the town! and right up the road from where you are staying. There is a cafe that you can have lunch in, and organise a tour with the knowegable guide that will take you down into the cave. There are lots of stairs though. Mount Gambier is known for the sink holes and cave systems, go so far as to say, world famous! Enjoy
its fantastic for families with young ones! Let the kiddies run around in the underwater cave area with books, things to do and touch and feel. There is even a cave for them to explore. Mums and dads can grab a coffee while the kids are having a ball. The whole area is fabulous, the cave gardens and the main corner , there is so much to see and do. Make sure you visit the main corner and go and watch the volcano movie that funs every day for free. Fascinating stuff and lets you know about how mount gambier is so unique.

It has just been updated and is a great thing to do on a weekend. You may need to book if you are wanting a bowling lane on a busy sunday.

For those that love to have a swim in the summer. great for all ages. Three different pools, babies, kids and the olympic size pool for those that like to swim laps or just muck about.

LOVE their coffee!!! A bustling cafe that does it all. You can grab something on the run or sit in and soak up the vibe. Greek, italian and everything in between. They bake their own bread, so if you love your delicious carbs, this is the cafe for you. You can buy a loaf and bring it home to savour later! PS, their cocktails are delicious. In a word, YUMMO! like presto and Metro, there are lots of great food to choose from, its on the healthier side of things, so you can suggest any changes you need to accommodate your foodie desires! Love their coffee too!

If you like wine, this is the place for you. A whole area that is wineries as far as the eye can see. Drive through Penola and you will find yourself surrounded by wineries. Pop into each cellar door and discover a world renowned area for wine. Some of the brands are Penfolds, Brands Liara, Redman, Koonara. Way too many to list here. Penola is 30 mins away from Mount Gambier, on Penola Rd, and Coonawarra is on the outskirts of town. Just keep driving on the same road, and you will run into the wineries.
