Glossop is the nearest town, 8 minutes by train from Broadbottom. The town was the world centre for calico. It boasts a number of excellent restaurants that include Indian restaurants, Italian restaurants and one Sri Lankan and one Turkish restaurant. There is an excellent cafe that provides fantastic menu at very good prices. There is well known amateur dramatic society in the a great theatre. plenty of second hand shops and and an indoor market. A fantastic park in old Glossop with a model railway. There are huge variety of public houses and new age histories that offer craft ale. Glossop is the gateway to the Peak district with its fabulous scenery and historic towns and villages like Buxton and Hayfield and Castleton where the Blue John stone is mined and the famed jewellery is made.
