Food scene

If you are looking for a restaurant, please check out the Welcome Folder for some inspiration. One of my personal favourites is The Fennel, you will find their menu in the welcome folder. It’s a short walk from the house and right in the centre of Inverurie. The Fennel Restaurant – 01467 670065 – have a look at directions on their website at www.fennelrestaurant.co.uk Another great place to try is The Drouthy Laird, their menu is also in the welcome folder. It is also central. Look them up on Facebook or phone on 01467 670790. For good fish and chips - The Ashvale Fish & Chip Restaurant and Take Away. The Gordon Highlander is our local Weatherspoons. Try the Kilted Frog for some gorgeous coffee and cake in quaint shabby chic settings in the main street. There is loads to do in Inverurie. Check out all the leaflets in the welcome folder. There are many shops, bars, restaurants and take aways as well as a Sports Centre and a separate Swimming Pool, Golf Course, Railway Station, Heritage Centre (with café), monthly Farmers Market, Europe’s biggest car boot sale and Sunday Market at Thainstone Agricultural Centre, Town Hall, Local Library. Sunny Neuk has WIFI. The Code is on the router in the living room as well as in the Welcome Folder.

Museum

Garioch Heritage Centre opened in Inverurie in October 2017 and houses the collections of Garioch Heritage Society. The Society has been researching the area’s history and gathering artefacts which shed light on the working and domestic lives of local people since 1987. The Centr e tells the story of life in the Garioch, from the early 20th century to the present day. Come and see what life was like in a Loco Works colony house or a dairy farm and learn about the trades that grew to support the area. The Centre sits in the renovated Inverurie Loco Works. The Works closed their gates for the last time in 1969 but have received a new lease of life as a home for our collections. The Centre keeps the memory of the Loco Works alive, all under the watchful eye of the original 20-ton crane.
