Sightseeing
With more than 345,000 visitors per year, the nationally acclaimed botanical gardens host some of the worlds most luxurious plants. The garden is divided into six areas, Madeiran indigenous and endemic species, arboretum, succulent plants, agro-industrial plants, medicinal and aromatic plants as well as palm trees and cycads. The garden opened to the public in 1960, after being previously part of an estate owned to the family of William Reid.

Hiking
Madeira is famous for its picturesque landscape, amazing food and a beautiful quality of living. Rightfully called 'A Ilha Do Ceu' meaning the island of heaven. This magically hike to the highest point on the Island, is a battle of mental discipline and muscular endurance, due to the extensive time frame walking upwards. Anyone who has been hiking before or would love to try, this is the place for you, with the most beautiful views you get over the whole island, if you're lucky enough you are even able to see Porto Santo from the peak. Have recommend to many friends and family, would recommend to anyone looking for a real challenge.

The municipality of Porto Moniz features a breath-taking natural complex of lava pools which are extremely popular to locals and tourists.

One of my favourite towns to visit on the North West side of the Island, it beholds magisterial landscapes created by centuries of molten lava rock freezing and solidifying to create such unique pieces of architecture. The municipality of Porto Moniz features a breath-taking natural complex of lava pools which are extremely popular to locals and tourists.
