Parking/car safety
Pay close attention to parking regulations. Most areas require residential permits for parking longer than 1-2 hours, sometimes 4. There also is street sweeping on most streets. Parking tickets are close to $100 so be careful! Breakins to cars are also unfortunately fairly common but you can prevent this by not leaving ANYTHING in plain sight in the car.

Even during the warmest months, it often gets chilly at night in San Francisco. Pack a layer and bring it with you everywhere!
