Yosemite is a beautiful national park to visit... particularly in the early summer (June) when the waterfalls are plentiful from the mountain snow melting! You can raft and hike and paint. It's really breathtaking. It's about a 6.5 hour drive from LA.

750 Hearst Castle RoadIf you're headed up/down the coast on Pacific Coast Hwy (PCH) you'll want to check out Hearst Castle. The U.S> doesn't have many so we take pride and this one is gorgeous with a fascinating history. Watch the free IMAX that comes with the tour ticket, it's worth it!
You have to check out Vegas if you have the time. About a 5 hour drive from LA... the hotels are incredible. Even if you don't gamble or drink there is PLENTY of entertainment to keep you occupied. They're known for their shows so plan to check out a couple while you're there.
