Where we eat
Winter Park has been an incubator of good food, excellent spirits and always a good time. Here are a few places that we like, from high-end to take out.
Enjoy a high end meal in a mountain shack. You’ll know it by the sign on the door advising “Hippies use the back door-No exceptions." It’s known for its wine lists and excellent and the meat and seafood dishes on the rotating menu. They are gluten free friendly and can accommodate vegan requests. It reigns as one of my favorites.

Oldest Golf Course in Grand County. It has 27 holes with fantastic views. If you play, ask for The Ridge to be on of your nines.

Fly fishing is one of my passions. The Colorado River boasts 15 miles of public blue ribbon water. The Fraser River in the valley just below the house is good and open to the public. All the headwaters are a blast to fish, beautiful hikes, and teeming with bookies, rainbows, and cutthroats.
Stop in and see Jeff at Winter Park Flyfisher to arrange guided trips on public or private water. My favorite is to float the Colorado River from Pump House to Radium.
The ponds below the house are open to the public stocked by the local Lions Club. One is open only to fisher people under 13.

One of our favorite family hikes. Rated as intermediate, this 7 mile round-trip hike takes you through alpine meadows, and brings you to a stunning alpine turquoise glacial lake, complete with with the backdrop of several 13,000' peaks.
