Chinese food on the coast. I know. But, trust me, this little unassuming family-owned gem in Waldport will satisfy any Chinese food craving. They have a special dish called "Chef Michael's Chicken", which will put anybody's General Tso's to shame.

130 NW Hwy 101Chinese food on the coast. I know. But, trust me, this little unassuming family-owned gem in Waldport will satisfy any Chinese food craving. They have a special dish called "Chef Michael's Chicken", which will put anybody's General Tso's to shame.
Located in Waldport (Just a quick 5 minute drive from A Stone's Throw). Chubby's offers one of the best hamburgers and hot dogs on the Oregon Coast. Not to mention THE BEST french fries. They do have out door benches to sit. Check their FB page, because patties go quick. Also, bring your 4-legged family member, so they can enjoy Chubby's famous "puppy patties".

Just South of Newport, this famous 101 landmark is hands-down the best "Fish and Chips" around. They also have many other offerings and a ton of fresh fish you can bring home with you. No frills. Just great fresh seafood!

Yachats Brewing creates high quality brews celebrating the unique beauty and culture of Yachats, Oregon. They have an ever changing variety of homemade brews, other PNW brews, and homemade Kombucha. Stop by for a sample and stay for a great lunch and their famous Sunday Brunch. The staff is very friendly and willing to give great.

But, the best bread and pastry selection I have found along the coast! Of course, the sourdough is out of this world. However, if you can get your hands on a Lemon Cheesecake (they go quick) buy 2.

Located 6 miles South of "A Stone's Throw". The sign from 101 reads "Cooks Chasm". During low-tide the well, is quite modest. The memorizing photos you see are at high tide which can be EXTREMELY dangerous. Grab your zoom lens and please keep your distance. It is not worth it!
Amanda’s Trail connects the coastal community of Yachats with the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area and also represents a section of the Oregon Coast Trail. The trail is a memorial to the forced relocation of Native Americans to the vast Siletz Reservation, and then their subsequent relocation from that reservation when white settlers began to claim coastal lands. Amanda De Cuys was a blind Coos woman who was captured along with others of her tribe and force-marched 80 miles up the coast to the Alsea Sub-agency of the vast Coast Indian Reservation at Yachats. Amanda had been living with a white man and had a daughter by him: the daughter was left with her father, but the latter refused to marry her mother. You can begin the hike on the rocky coast at the south end of Yachats; for a stretch, the path runs right alongside Highway 101. You will cross the highway and then enter private forest on an easement. After paying your respects at the Amanda Statue, hike up the steep slope to admire the expansive views from the historic Cape Perpetua Stone Shelter at the top of Cape Perpetua's old shield volcano. https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Amanda%27s_Trail_Hike

One of the many reasons we love Yachats is that its beauty is NOT JUST ABOUT THE OCEAN. Head up Yachats River Road about (Left just as you are about to exit downtown Yachats - across from Ona). About 12 scenic miles from A Stone's Throw is an amazing covered bridge. Worth the drive. Trust me.
Located about 17 miles South of A Stone's Throw. Heceta Head Lighthouse is my favorite lighthouse in the area. Park in the lot and hike up to the view point. If you plan it right, sunsets from there are out of this world!

97439 US-101Located about 17 miles South of A Stone's Throw. Heceta Head Lighthouse is my favorite lighthouse in the area. Park in the lot and hike up to the view point. If you plan it right, sunsets from there are out of this world!
About 7 miles South of town you can enter Cape Perpetua. Park your car and take a short walk to the famous Rock Shelter (built by in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps). The shelter was used as a lookout station during WWII.
