Heather, our co-host and her husband are co-owners of this world famous, iconic restaurant. Not only is it a Santa Fe landmark, but they can serve up fantastic gluten-free dishes in addition to all the regular Cowgirl fare! Great patio, wonderful place.

This is the sister restaurant to "The Shed" and a quick walk from our house. A truly Santa Fe experience, many people believe their chile is a must for every visit. Hidden back behind the railyard park, this is where the locals to to eat at The Shed without having to wait two hours for a table!

If you're looking for the best, hottest green chile you can find, go here. It is a weird little diner at the far end of town right next to a gas station. Although they are closed for all of Holy Week, if you can make it there order a breakfast burrito with green chile & a lot of water!! If you're really daring, ask for the Level 2 Chile - it's shocking!

It's amazing. It's really french and really delicious! Stock up on beautiful French pastries or try to get a table for lunch. The French Onion Soup is perfect - but beware!! They ONLY accept cash - no matter what.

The Palace of the Governors is right on the plaza where the Native Americans sell goods. Take a stroll through the museum or at least be sure to check the bars on the windows at the corner of Lincoln & Palace Ave - at one point they did not have enough iron to make bars for the windows when it was a jail, and if you look closely, you can see that the bars are actually rifle barrels!

This is where the Native Americans sell their handmade jewelry & art on the Plaza. I like to visit the museum as well, but even if you skip the museum, a visit to the plaza and to peruse the quality goods handmade by Native Artisans. The portal has been reserved for Native American wares since the 1930s.

Because we are on Native American land, and their long & beautiful history is a huge part of what makes Santa Fe what it is. We are so lucky to have such a rich resource and access to Native American culture here in New Mexico that every opportunity to support & learn about it should be taken. Art is a powerful part of that story - check it out here!

Shopping

This place has everything. We need to stop here at least three times each week. There is a USPS inside the mall, a Subway around the back, Albertsons, Sprouts, CVS, Starbucks & Office Depot - but these are just some of the large chain stores here. Inside you'll find an eclectic mix of shops, from Senor Murphy's Candy Shop to Teca Tu (a luxury pet supply store). There is a gourmet kitchenware store that has amazing cooking classes, and classic Santa Fe women's clothing. You will also find the Queen's Ransom (a store who's buyer has some of the best taste in the world), you can get a bikini wax, a mani/pedi, or stop in at Ross if you forgot your underwear or need something for the trip. It's just full of useful stuff - and it's really close.

It's a laundromat and it's two blocks away. It's plonked right down in the middle of a residential area, which is really convenient.

People love Trader Joe's - I don't do much of our grocery shopping, so I don't know much about it. But it's close by - the parking lot is one of the worst in Santa Fe, but there is a Pharmica next door, so you can get a lot accomplished here. (& the other Whole Foods is across the street from here)

Parks & Nature

This is on my list of things to do when people visit Santa Fe. Put on your hiking shoes and pack up a nice lunch and head up to Bandelier Monument for the afternoon. There are amazing Anasazi Ruins that you can tour, and lovely hiking to do in the area. If you haven't been to Chaco Canyon or another major Anasazi site, start here - it's amazing.
