Right in the middle of the village. Excellent food but a bit pricey. Tapas. Can have one glass of wine or a beer on outside terrace and watch the comings and goings of the village. Here you can also buy bottles by local vintners and bring home, paying the same price as you would at the vintner's showroom. Cosy in the winter inside. Jazz on Sundays throughout the summer.

Sightseeing
Le Castellas is what's left of the castle that once overlooked Montpeyroux. Walking up to it from the house takes about 20 minutes and is a moderate hike. There are beautiful views of the village from here and on clear days you can see all the way to the Mediterranean.

This is a must-see for visitors. Important stop on the Compostella pilgrimage route. 15-minute drive from Montpeyroux (through the village of St. Jean de Fos, then up the Herault river gorge.) Or, you can take a local bus. (Runs infrequently.) OR you can walk to St. Guilhem from Montpeyroux--about 3-4 hours. Walk up through the hamlet of Le Barry, past Le Castellas, over the plateau and down into St. Guilhem. Breathtaking views. Topo map recommended.

Local arts and crafts sold, lots of area tourist information here. Come early morning or late in the day if you want to avoid the crowds.
