Cava Grande is situated in a deep valley, called the Canyon by locals. It was formed by the constant erosion of the Cassibile river and over the centuries the river slowly created a series of deep canyons within the limestones of the Hyblean Mountains. In the valley small waterfalls and natural reservoirs have gradually formed and during the summertime it is possible to take a dive in its fresh waters.

The architect Vittorio Cinzia and his father Antonio Vittorio, founder and director of the park, have created a precious gem for those visiting Siracusa.
