The Rail Trail (in front of Thomas) right in front of Front Street in Thomas, between the businesses and the river. Take a left and the trail will eventually lead to Douglas Falls (3 miles). This river is too dirty to swim in but really beautiful. Great trail for running or biking. Only thing you need to know is that you take a right onto the bridge that goes over the water right outside of Thomas if heading towards douglas falls.
Blackwater Canyon Trail
Blackwater Canyon TrailThe Rail Trail (in front of Thomas) right in front of Front Street in Thomas, between the businesses and the river. Take a left and the trail will eventually lead to Douglas Falls (3 miles). This river is too dirty to swim in but really beautiful. Great trail for running or biking. Only thing you need to know is that you take a right onto the bridge that goes over the water right outside of Thomas if heading towards douglas falls.
Cathedral State Park
Cathedral State Park (20 mins) old growth trees and nice trails
Camp 70 (10 mins) Good spot for swimming, trails, and fishing. This water is clean enough to swim in. Stay to the left of Shop N Save in Davis and go over the bridge. It turns into a dirt road. Stay on this road for several miles and look for pull offs on the right side to go swimming or fishing. Can be high water in times of heavy rainfall, so please be careful. Most of the time it’s really calm though.
Camp 70 Road
Camp 70 RoadCamp 70 (10 mins) Good spot for swimming, trails, and fishing. This water is clean enough to swim in. Stay to the left of Shop N Save in Davis and go over the bridge. It turns into a dirt road. Stay on this road for several miles and look for pull offs on the right side to go swimming or fishing. Can be high water in times of heavy rainfall, so please be careful. Most of the time it’s really calm though.
Otter Creek (20 mins) Another fantastic place for swimming, hiking, and backpacking. No mountain bikes. Go through Hendricks to get there (we recommend this entry). There is one trail leading into this area that turns into a suspension bridge that goes over the dryfork river. The dryfork can be high in heavy rainfall times so please be careful, but most of the time this river is where we swim because of how warm it can be. If you stay on the trail that leads deeper into the park, you will find otter creek on your right which is insanely beautiful. This water is generally really cold but very clean. Take a cold swim in it or enjoy the views. Maps for sale at Bloom.
