There is a tiny convenience store in the Canyon, but if you go down the hill on either side there is a Trader Joes. Alternatively, you can get Amazon to deliver groceries.

Getting Around
The LA metro system is much better than people say. There are also buses. However, it is often best if you mix uber and the metro for the best results. I would tend to be careful about going on the metro very late at night, although the reality is I believe the crime rate is lower than people imagine. It is much less stressful taking the metro to downtown than driving into downtown.
