This is an old fashioned soda fountain where you can get ice cream, milkshakes and sundaes. Check before heading down to them though as their hours fluctuate depending on time of year.

The iconic Stanley Park is a must see for visitors to Vancouver. I love to walk the 11km seawall where you can watch ships and seaplanes coming and going and if you pay attention, you'll see a seal. If you have a car, the drive around the park is beautiful, with many points to stop and explore. There are three beaches in the park if you feel like just soaking up the sun and listening to the waves.

If you have a car, the drive around the park is beautiful, with many points to stop and explore. There are three beaches in the park if you feel like just soaking up the sun and listening to the waves.
It's not a challenging hike down to the lighthouse where you clamber over boulders to sit and soak up the views. You will only find locals here.

If you're more into the singles scene, then Kitsilano beach is perfect. You can watching people crabbing from the pier at Jericho. But Spanish Banks is our favourite as the tides go way out which is fabulous for walking. When the tide comes back in over the warm sand, it heats up the water making for ideal swimming conditions.

Here you will watch brave (or stupid) souls jump from cliffs into the freezing cold water. Be careful in this park and do not go out of bounds as people have lost their lives.

Here you will watch brave (or stupid) souls jump from cliffs into the freezing cold water. Be careful in this park and do not go out of bounds as people have lost their lives.

You can choose to purchase a day pass for their trails at $9.50 or we prefer the free trail to Dog Mountain which comes out at a bluff overlooking the city. If it's raining in the city, you know it's snowing on the mountain.

If it's raining in the city, you know it's snowing on the mountain.

Bowen Island makes a great day trip. A 20 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay you get an ocean voyage and a quaint village all thrown into one. Have lunch in Snug Cove, explore the shops and then wander some of their trails. Check out www.tourismbowenisland.com

This is similar to Soaring Over California if you've been to Disneyland. It's a great introduction to Canada and a really enjoyable experience. My only criticism is it's too short! Tickets $27 in person or $23 online.

This has live horse racing April through October, along with a Casino year round and restaurants. Best of all, it's walking distance from our house, although all uphill home.
