Union Market is one of our favorite places in DC, and we are happy that our home is so close. It hosts a number of small shops and restaurants. Our favorites include Peregrine (coffee), Takorean (Korean food), Co Co Sala (chocolate), and Salt & Sundry (home goods).

Seoul Spice is like a Korean-style Chipotle--but better! We recommend either a bibimbap bowl, a "korrito" (it's like a Korean burrito, wrapped in seaweed), or tacos. Whatever you get, add the marinated egg.

A short walk away, Bardo is a unique little brewery with plentiful outdoor seating. Especially fun for dog lovers, as pups are welcome to run around while their pawrents relax. No food menu, but you can order delivery (we recommend UberEats).

Sightseeing
One of our favorite buildings for the beauty of it. Rest for a minute on the majestic steps with a view of the newly polished Capitol Building in front of you. It's a great place to take a little breather.

For obvious reason, a walk down the National Mall can't be missed. Stop at a Smithsonian Museum, or catch the sun set in front of the Washington Monument. It is also a great place to run.

There are three buildings, but the one to see is the Jefferson. There are free tours daily. While you are in the area, get your Library of Congress reader library card at the Madison building around the corner!

Eastern Market is full of food stands. Looking for a local cheese recommendation, or some fresh produce? It is in a historic building, and there are tons of nearby shops and restaurants as well. The surrounding area is called the "Eastern Market neighborhood."

There are other nearby grocery stores (Safeway is just a handful of blocks away), but MOM's is where you want to go to have a shopping experience that puts you in a good mood afterward. Full of healthy/delicious/local foods and drinks, MOM's is one of my favorite places to find snacks or groceries.

Full of healthy/delicious/local foods and drinks, MOM's is one of my favorite places to find snacks or groceries.
