Food Scene
A nice evening out with a twist! Liefie is great for lunch or dinner with a nice array of options. What is really fun is that the owners are from South Africa and a number of the menu items reflect that heritage. Steak, chicken and the other usual offerings of a nice restaurant are on the menu but so is Curry and many other items from the other side of the world...literally. Service is always good and price is very fair for a nice evening out that often includes live music in the background (playing softly too!) on the weekends.

What a great place to shop for wonderful peaches and produce in the summer. This peach shed is a popular destination for locals and travelers during the summer when they have some of the tastiest fresh peaches you will ever find. They also have some wonderful fruit flavored ice cream cones for a special summer treat. Great break for the entire family!
Wonderful Lunch and Dinner Destination! All the country favorites cooked perfectly: chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, fried fish, steak and burgers. Leave room for the homemade pie for dessert!

This restaurant has it all when it comes to Mexican food. Wonderful queso and Tex Mex as well as a wide variety of Mexican steak and seafood dishes. They also serve great Margaritas.

Essentials
Brookshire is the grocery chain that can be seen in all towns in Northeast Texas. There is one in Pittsburg, Winnsboro and Gilmer. Each is only 15 minutes away. We usually go to the one in Pittsburg or Winnsboro because it has a bit larger selection than the one in Gilmer. There is also a Walmart in Gilmer for those who need a variety of items outside the realm of a normal grocery store.

One of the best ways to see the birds and wildlife in this area is to hike around the ranch. We have forests, large ponds and pastures which means we have a broad array of native birds and migrating birds. In the winter it is not unusual to see a Bald Eagle, Osprey or Canada Goose here enjoying the ranch.
