For keen train enthusiasts or even just walkers, the Ratty makes for a great day out! Just a 5 minute walk from Herbert house and you can get on the Ratty. Ride the steam train up to Dalegarth, and go on a walk around the area, passing waterfalls or climbing mountains. Or even just rest in a local pub and take in the scenery and local buzz of the natural beauty of the area. Once you feel you have had enough in Eskdale you can walk back to Ravenglass taking in the stunning views as you go or can even get the train back!

Getting Around
The trains run through Ravenglass station (5 minute walk from Herbert house). For any place a long the coast this makes it easy to get around. However if you are wanting to go anywhere away from the coast and to enter the more rural areas, you may need a car.
