The best Reuben sandwich I've ever had. They have brunch on Sundays at 9:30 that includes broasted chicken and real mashed potatoes and gravy. Ask for french toast and pancakes and they bring them fresh to your table. Yummmm.

Go ahead and wait in the bar and order an old-fashioned. They are only $2.50. It is worth the wait, especially for the prime rib. My personal favorite is the Friday Night fish fry. If you don't want more than 2 pieces, ask for the senior pricing. Also be sure to try the Italian potatoes. Comes with corn fritters and honey butter.

This has been here a long time. Be patient, usually just one waitress. Good pizza and atmosphere. The main room was originally a street car that was used in Downtown Portage.

Parks & Nature
Nice paved trail you can walk or ride bike. On top of the levee and you can see the Wisconsin River on the other side. Park behind the Riverside Park near Tamarack and take a walk, if you go the right, you'll find the old locks for the canal and also a watch tower. Go to the left for a leisurely stroll to see the river.

Beautiful park with pond, wheeping willows and arched bridges, fountain. In the winter they keep it cleared off and lighted for ice skating. Check out the river, sometimes there's a sandbar you can walk right out on.

My favorite trail is the Tumbling Rock trail. Great beach and campstore. They offer kayaking, canoeing, paddleboards all to rent.
This a beautiful, serene place, spiritual place. It is Immaculate Conception Chapel and Mary, Mother of God Grotto. The grounds include pond, stream and a glen. Open to the public for free dawn until dusk.

Largest freshwater cattail marsh in the US. Canoe/kayak the marsh or take a walk on the boardwalks surrounding the marsh. They do have a visitor center. Fun to see the geese when they are migrating.

Only open May through October, local history about Fort Winnebago. An old schoolhouse has been moved on sight as well.
