Arrived here less than a decade ago. There is a hipster cafe and bar inside and a gift shop (not that good). Exhibits are great. Check hours - closed Mondays I think. They also have music, films, workshops and artist talks sometimes.

Old fashion neighborhood downstairs might be the best part and the toy train.

This has gotten more touristy (aka suburban people coming down for fun instead of actually doing their weekly shopping). There is Sala Thai nearby, Supenos pizza, diner food and Russell St Deli (basic foodie brunch and lunch).

There are some trails, park for kids, old abandoned zoo (locked up now). A nice walk is Blue Heron Lagoon - park in the lot and walk out to the lighthouse, pass it and across the bridge. There is swimming at the beach too! Lots of adorable families, super diverse -- you see all the types of people who live here.
