Cool off and splash the day away in one of Canada’s largest wave pools in Hamilton’s Confederation Park. Zoom down four tube slides, float the Easy River and brave the six-storey body slides. Little Squirt Works, filled with wading pools, small slides, sprays, mists and fountains, is perfect for the littlest ones. Been here a few times now as it is less than 10 minute drive from where we stay. This a great little Water park just off the QEW and a great day out for the family.

One of the most striking features of Pier 4 Park is the popular Bayport tugboat (c. 1945). The Bayport is oriented to provide children with a full view of the water and forms the centrepiece of a unique, interactive play area including water spray pad. A curved boardwalk with a pavilion and benches offers spectacular, panoramic views of the surrounding marinas and parkland, and a shoreline promenade allows access to the water’s edge. The site is also a superb vantage point from which to enjoy water activities such as boating, windsurfing, and sailing.

The kids will love petting a goat in the play barn, jumping off hay bales, and sampling delicious maple candy. Hike to the sugar bush or take the mountain bike for a spin on the trails. Mountsberg is bursting with animal life from the farm animals in the barn, to the bison in the paddock, and the frogs peeping in the reservoir.Last but not least is the famous Raptor Centre: the home of our many feathered friends like Octavius the Great Horned Owl and Pip the American Kestrel.

The Eramosa Karst is the Hamilton Conservation Authority's newest conservation area. It is located in the southwestern section of the Stoney Creek area of Hamilton. Karsts are geological formations including underground drainage, caves and passages caused by dissolving rock, found in limestone formations like the Niagara Escarpment. The Ministry of Natural Resources designated the Eramosa Karst lands as an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest in 2003. Several of its karst features are provincially significant. These include: soil pipes, a high concentration of suffosion dolines and sinking streams, overflow sinks, dry valleys and a 335 metre-long cave (the tenth longest in all of Ontario). There is also a natural dolomitic limestone bridge at the entrance of one of the sinkholes.
