SUGGESTIONS IF YOU ARRIVE EARLY Many guests will arrive before the designated check-in time. The good news is that there is plenty to do. We often suggest that guests visit the convenience store across the road and do a small shop. That will give you more time to relax once you've checked in! We do leave a small welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and a bottle of red wine for your enjoyment. There are also several good places to eat including The Talbot & Rose and Crown pub, and for the best coffee and brunch in the village Tom’s Café. OVERVIEW OF THE AREA Cuckfield is perfectly situated between Brighton on the coast and Gatwick Airport (each 25 mins drive), with Ashdown Forest and South Downs National Park on the doorstep. We are close to several National Trust gardens, and the wonderful Bluebell Railway. Borde Hill Gardens on the outskirts of Cuckfield (open April to September) is just a stone’s throw away. Cuckfield is also home to the famous Ockenden Manor and Spa. Cuckfield has a wonderful independent museum (located in The Queens Hall), providing an insight into Cuckfield’s community, culture and historic past. One of the earliest finds of dinosaur bones in the world was made here in Cuckfield by Dr Gideon Mantell and his wife.
