These islands are a protected marine reserve (no fishing allowed). They offer some of the best diving in the country, if not the world and I highly recommend Dive! Tutukaka (http://diving.co.nz/) who are professional, friendly and offer daily trips on safe and clean boats.

Poor Knights Islands
These islands are a protected marine reserve (no fishing allowed). They offer some of the best diving in the country, if not the world and I highly recommend Dive! Tutukaka (http://diving.co.nz/) who are professional, friendly and offer daily trips on safe and clean boats.
Essentials
This is a tiny local store that stocks the basics. They do also sell some takeaway food. 2km from the house. Stunning Matapouri Bay is a lovely spot to take your goodies and sit on the beach for a picnic.

They have a selection of wine and beer and cold drinks as well as basic groceries and essentials. Around the corner, Tutukaka Surf offers lovely gifts as well as surfboard hire and surfing lessons. Other stores in this block include an art shop.
