It’s one of the oldest testimonies of the medieval walls, which stood along the borders of the city of Palermo. The architecture of the door probably dates from the thirteenth century.
It was opened in the Thirteenth Century. In the Seventeenth Century it was incorporated in the ancient bastion of the city. On top of the door can still be seen the remains of walkways and stairs.
