Gorgeous park with lots of cool hidden treasures (including the zoo, art museum, history museum, etc.). One of the largest urban parks in the United States. At 1,293 acres, it's about 500 acres larger than NYC's Central Park.

Arts & Culture
This is a site of ruins, but if you want to understand the true history of Saint Louis---and, indeed, of America---it's a must-experience. The Pruitt-Igoe ruins (inside a fence which contains openings in various locations allowing access to the public) are what remains of an iconic failed segregated housing project in the Midwest. We recommend checking out the documentary "The Pruitt-Igoe Myth" (2011) before visiting the site for historical context.
Quoting from Wikipedia: "Pruitt–Igoe was a large urban housing project first occupied in 1954 in the U.S. city of St. Louis, Missouri. Living conditions in Pruitt–Igoe began to decline soon after its completion in 1956. By the late 1960s, the complex had become internationally infamous for its poverty, crime, and segregation. Its 33 buildings were demolished with explosives in the mid-1970s, and the project has become an icon of urban renewal and public-policy planning failure. The complex was designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, who also designed the World Trade Center towers and the Lambert-St. Louis International Airport main terminal."
