A fab place in a very secluded corner of Rotorua and not known by everyone. The food is Swiss, the pastries are dreamy, coffee is HOT and the juices are all fresh. You can read the morning paper in the coffee lounge (away from the main service area) and stay as long as you like. Free WiFi too. Everything to love about this place!

The best Italian food outside of Italy.
Authentic, great atmosphere, very busy so book ahead and eat early before the noise and sprawl makes its way around from Eat Streat just around the corner.

Parks & Nature
Amazing experience of all types of geothermal in one location.
The walks are for all grades, the further in you go the more you'll see and take away from this breathtaking place.
Far less contrived than the other touristy type geothermal parks which are crowded with tourists pushing and rushing to see everything at once, the distance it takes to reach Waimangu will reward your efforts over and over again.
This is a licensed attraction and very well laid out, you'll find the guides have great knowledge to share with everything else signposted with directions and information as you go around.

Far less contrived than the other touristy type geothermal parks which are crowded with tourists pushing and rushing to see everything at once, the distance it takes to reach Waimangu will reward your efforts over and over again.

This is scenic and epic, more of a tramp than a walk and absolutely no slow tourists here, the hot pools on the way offer a welcome relax, the vista of views at the mid point across Humphries Bay are spectacular- allow 6 hours return to do this walk and don't leave it past midday to start, the terrain isn't level so wear really sturdy boots.
Lake Okataina / Te Moana I Kataina A Te Rangitakar
This is scenic and epic, more of a tramp than a walk and absolutely no slow tourists here, the hot pools on the way offer a welcome relax, the vista of views at the mid point across Humphries Bay are spectacular- allow 6 hours return to do this walk and don't leave it past midday to start, the terrain isn't level so wear really sturdy boots.
A free geothermal experience with lots of little nooks and crannies for bathing, Don't leave your valuables in the car if possible and if you have them please hide them. There are thieves amongst us. You can park very close to the creek, it's only a 10 minute walk in to the waters edge. Pack light and make your pack brightly coloured so you can keep an eye on your stuff easily.

Old Waiotapu RoadA free geothermal experience with lots of little nooks and crannies for bathing, Don't leave your valuables in the car if possible and if you have them please hide them. There are thieves amongst us. You can park very close to the creek, it's only a 10 minute walk in to the waters edge. Pack light and make your pack brightly coloured so you can keep an eye on your stuff easily.
The Hot & Colds pools are here not too far from the Lady Knox geyser.

It's a bit spendy to enter the park although the experience is one you'll remember forever.

See the park and be finishing off at 11ish then head to the Maori Arts and Crafts to spend lots of lazy hours.
Everything on site is covered by your entry ticket and traditional maori hangi food can be purchased in your entry pass too.
