Hawthorne is a fun quirky Portland neighborhood. We love the "Backstage bar" or "Quarter World". There are a lot of good restaurants and shop. It is situated between Division and Belmont, which are two other great streets to walk around.

There is a Starbucks and Black Rock coffee really close to our house, but Maplewood Coffee & Tea is our favorite coffee shop. The atmosphere is great, the food is good, drinks are delicious and the staff is very friendly. It is a great Portland neighborhood coffee shop.

We are less than 1hr away on I-5 to the famous Willamette Valley. With our easy access to the highway, it is easy to plan a day there. McMinnville is a great centrally located place to access vineyards and wine tastings. Their Aviation Museum is in my opinion the best museum in Oregon.

You have easy access to downtown Portland via I-5
Having a car is recommended for this neighborhood, but if you want to take public transportation, the bus 44 comes every 30 minutes and will take you straight to downtown.
